Provided by AGPIn a message shared on the US-based platform X, Lapid expressed congratulations to Magyar and the Tisza Party, noting their success in the election and wishing them well for the future.
He also stated that relations between Israel and Hungary are expected to continue strengthening, according to reports.
Unofficial election results indicate that the Tisza Party secured a commanding position in parliament, with around 68.84% of the vote and 137 seats based on approximately 81% of ballots counted. Early counts showed Magyar maintaining a significant lead over incumbent Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, according to election authorities.
Following the outcome, Orbán reportedly acknowledged defeat and stated that he and his party would continue serving the country from the opposition. Meanwhile, Magyar also announced that Orbán had contacted him to offer congratulations after the result, according to a post he shared on X.
The result marks a major political shift in Hungary, with reports indicating a strong voter swing toward the opposition after years of governance by Orbán’s administration.
